These white chocolate peppermint snowflake cookies are so easy to make you won’t believe it. You just buy cookies and put chocolate and peppermint on them. You don’t need any kitchen skills to make these beautiful snowflake cookies. If you can melt chocolate in your microwave and crush a few candy canes, you’re all set. That’s why these are so fun to make. They’re totally stress-free and come out gorgeous every time!

No-Bake, Easy Snowflake White Chocolate Peppermint doTERRA Cookies

These are great for kids to make. They can get hands-on with every step, and spreading the chocolate and sprinkling on the candy is a little messy and lots of fun.

A lot of quick and easy Christmas cookies I’ve tried tend to fall apart if you don’t make them just right. Not these. These snowflake cookies are amazingly sturdy once they’re set. The white chocolate holds the butter cookies together solidly. You could take them to a party, or even hang them from the tree. Oh! Or hang them from a tree and let your guests pick them off the tree. . .

They’re as delicious as they are pretty. They really look like snowflakes! The crushed peppermint sparkles like fresh snow. Vanilla shortbread butter cookies taste amazing drizzled with white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy cane. The crunch of the cookies is perfect with the sweet, minty topping.

These are very quick to make. It only takes a few minutes to make each cookie, and when you’re done you have a big, beautiful treat. They’re also inexpensive to make. There’s no need to buy costly brand-name candy and cookies. All you need are bargain-brand butter cookies, almond bark or candy melts and some candy canes or starlight mints.

Making Points

You can use vanilla almond bark, white candy melts or white chocolate candy melts. They all taste like white chocolate.

Melt your white chocolate until it’s as hot and liquid as possible. If it’s too firm, it’s hard to spread on the cookies and will firm up before the crushed peppermint can stick to it.

Melt the white chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds or so. You could also use a double boiler on the stove, or melt it in your slow cooker on low.

Work on a piece of waxed paper. It makes clean-up easier, and the cookies peel off of it easily.

Have your cookies arranged into the snowflake shape and have plenty of crushed peppermint ready before you melt the chocolate.

A cheap craft paintbrush that you don’t mind throwing away works well to get the chocolate on the cookies. Spreading it with a spoon works great too.

You don’t have to hurry, but you want to work at a good pace. That way the chocolate will still be wet when it’s time to sprinkle on the peppermint, and you can get a lot more peppermint to stick to the snowflakes.

You can crush the peppermint as course or fine as you like. I like to crush it medium fine, so there are still pieces you can tell are candy cane.

Candy canes are a lot easier to crush than starlight mints, but you could use either.

You can crush the candy canes by putting them in a plastic zipper bag and crushing the candies with a potato masher, rolling pin or anything heavy. You can also use a food chopper or spice grinder, but make sure you don’t grind the candies too fine.

You don’t have to be neat or precise when you’re spreading the melted candy onto the cookies. No matter how messy you are, it will all look beautiful once it’s sprinkled with crushed candy cane.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 10 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Package Cheap Butter Cookies
  • 1 Package Candy Canes ((or a medium-sized bag of starlight mints))
  • A few blocks of almond bark or white candy coating, or about two cups white candy coating melts
  • 4 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions

  1. Lay down a sheet of waxed paper.
  2. Arrange seven butter cookies with one in the middle and six around it. Make sure they’re all touching the center cookie.
  3. Crush two or three candy canes or a few handfuls of starlight mints into a rough dust. Put it in a bowl nearby so it’s easy to grab.
  4. Melt a block of almond bark or a few handfuls of candy melts in the microwave until they’re a very hot, very runny liquid.
  5. Stir in the peppermint essential oil.
  6. Use a spoon or a craft paint brush to spread the melted candy onto the cookies. Start with all the places the cookies touch. This will join them into a sturdy snowflake shape. Try not to move the cookies during this step.
  7. Spread more melted candy so the snowflake is more or less covered.
  8. Sprinkle the snowflake with crushed peppermint before the melted candy dries. You can press it down a little if you want to make sure it’s sticking.
  9. Let the cookies set for 2-3 minutes. Loosen them from the waxed paper with a spatula.
