This is why you need a landing page – Say you’re sharing all over the internet and in person. You use the standard doTERRA website link that doTERRA gives you. Something like http://mydoterra.com/183977 Have you seen where the link goes to? It just goes to a super generic doTERRA branded website. Sure, you can write a brief introduction on it and there are a few videos and recipes. But is that enough to convince a person to sign up for doTERRA? It won’t convince anyone I know so that referral you worked so hard to get leaves. Never to come back.
Now what if you had a landing page instead? What is a landing page? A landing page is a page made for people to “land” on. Here is my landing page – https://bestessentialoils.com/why-you-should-buy-doterra-essential-oils/ If you have a landing page, people clink on this link and start to read all about what essential oils are, how they would benefit them, how they’ve helped you and all sorts of other great things about essential oils. They are thinking, hey, these sound pretty good. Then, you send them to your generic doTERRA website to sign up.
Where to Put your Landing Page
The first, and very important part, of making a landing page is deciding where to put it. Guess what? You don’t need a blog. You could create one on Facebook as a note, as a Google doc or any other online place where you can post your own content and be able to link to it.
I do recommend doing it on a blog. Why? Cause then Google can find you, you can pin from it, etc. You can also make way more than just your one landing page. If you’re going to do a blog, you want to do the landing page first. You need a link people can go to and learn more about doTERRA and you. You are going to put this link in lots of places so you want this landing page to be really good.
I could talk for hours about how to start a blog but instead I’m going to give you a quick overview to help you get started and then please feel free to ask me specific questions.
There are lots of free blogs out there. If all you want is a landing page and don’t intend to spend very much time or effort on your blog, then a free blog could be a good way to go. Free blogs are blogger, blogspot, wordpress.org, weebly and tons of others. I think the most popular free one is probably blogger.
But, if you are serious about blogging and think you want to make income from ads and spend time consistently on it, I would do a paid blog. A paid blog doesn’t have to cost a lot. I started with bluehost.com. I don’t use them anymore because I outgrew them but they are good to start with. I recommend any Genesis WordPress theme. Take your time picking out a name. It’s really important. Consider lots of names, ask people what they think, make sure it’s available, get a .com. Make sure you LOVE it cause you’ll be stuck with it forever. Choose what your blog will be about before you start it and make the name reflect it. I’ve found that blogs with a narrower focus are a lot easier to handle and do well because your fans know what they are going to get. That’s the problem with My Natural Family – it has a very broad range and it’s impossible to get the depth I would get if I was more focused.
I would also like to add that I make a significant income from my blog. I currently actually make a lot more money from displaying ads on my site than from doTERRA (at least so far). That’s because with doTERRA you start out slow but then hopefully grow and grow. Ads can help fund your doTERRA obsession and make it so you can spend more time building your blog. I look at my blog as a way to get people to find me so they can eventually sign up for doTERRA. But, if they don’t sign up, at least I make a quick buck off them visiting my site. Once I put ads on my site, I really started focusing on getting traffic to my site. That means you can blog about anything you want and if it gets people to your site and gets them liking you and your blog, then you can get them to your landing page and “hook” them in that way. Here is an article about starting a blog I thought you may find useful.
Pay attention to SEO from the beginning. This guy is awesome and knows what he is talking about:
Pinterest is super-important so from the beginning make sure you have good images on every post. Good images have lots of natural light and are focused. I can’t tell you how many people can’t do that.
